HISTORY

NSE Victoria Island Branch (NSE-VI) was established on 12th day of November 2007, in response to the growing population of practicing Engineers within the Victoria Island community. Although started mainly by Engineers working in Nigerian Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO), a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), NSE-VI has grown to include all other Engineers in the oil and gas operators and service companies, building and construction industry, electric power & utilities company, and information & communication technology (ICT) industry.

The number of Engineering personnel and corporate organizations in Victoria Island and its environs gave rise to agitation for the establishment of Victoria Island Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in 2006. To achieve the objectives of fostering the good practice of Engineering through member’s interactions, NSE members working in Victoria Island came together and agreed on the formation of the Branch. To achieve the lofty objectives and opportunity identified for the formation of the Branch, a presentation was made to the Nigeria Society of Engineers Council at the Council meeting chaired by the then president of the Society, Engr. Emeka Muoma Ezeh, FNSE on November 12, 2006, by and Engr. Mohammed Babagana and Engr. Joshua A. Adeoye FNSE. Following NSE Council approval, the Branch was formally established on 12th November 2007 when an election was conducted and Exco established for running of the affairs of the Branch. The investiture of the pioneer Branch Chairman, Engr. T. H. O Elegba, FNSE was performed by the NSE President, Engr Emeka Eze, FNSE in 2007 at the Ocean View Restaurant, Victoria Island Lagos
