Summary of Chairman's inaugural speech.
Engr. John AUDU, FNSE is passionate about engendering innovation in NSE-VI and the entire Engineering family. In his inaugural speech during his installation as the seventh (7th) Chairman of NSE-VI, he launched a five million naira (NGN5,000,000) NSE-VI Innovation Fund (NIF). He has engaged Engineers from the branch to develop 1kW Solar Generator, 5kW Wind Turbine, and and USB Phone Charger Station. In his words, "we have a lot more innovations waiting to be funded such as; ceiling manufacturing from waste paper, water hyacinth briquettes, indigenous road construction and maintenance equipment, cassava peelers, portable rice harvesters, an electric car, and a 2-passenger airplane, just to mention a few."
Other desires of Engr. John AUDU, FNSE include Service to our Society - Nigeria. Through public symposiums, he has commenced and will continue engaging public service officials to brainstorm solutions for the myraid of problems plaguing our country and Lagos in particular. Top on the agenda are electricity, traffic congestion & management, lekki-epe road failed sections, FRSC safety campaign, portable drinking water for Eti-Osa LGA residents, and the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to monitor & report structural health of building before collapse.
Among his strategic initiatives are human capacity development which seeks to position Engineers as solution providers and employers of labour instead of being perpetual job seekers. In line with the Engineering family's quest for Outcome Based Engineering (OBE) education, he has initiated efforts to bridge the gap between industry and academia. The launch of a five hundred thousand naira (NGN500,000) Adopt-a-University programme at Lagos State University (LASU) Engineering faculty is an action that speaks volume. Engr. John AUDU's administration has also visited the School of Science & Technology of Pan Atlantic University which is also located within the NSE-VI catchment area.
Young members of the branch, including Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) owners, are amongst those who have received generous attention from the chairman. As part of his Enhance Welfare initiative, the Chairman plans to push an affordable housing scheme for members and the general public. He has continued to provide succour to members who are in need, and displayed same leadership during the COVID-19 lockdown in Lagos. On membership drive, Engr. John AUDU's leadership has seen the inclusion of the ICT industry stakeholders into the NSE-VI fold.
Engr. John AUDU, FNSE is passionate about Group Dynamics, an annual metric where NSE ranks her branches according to their programmes' impact/impart on the society & members as well as their organizational development & management prowess.
